Killed in an aircraft crash on 14 Sep 1977 during Joint training along with members of the 1st Special Operations Wing and the 1st & 2nd Ranger Battalions, while serving as the Military Airlift Command’s Director of Special Environmental Technical Plans. Master Parachutist with Special Operations combat service in Laos and the Dominican Republic. Awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct as one of the main planners for the Son Tay Raid. Killed in action on 04 Sep 2009 in Afghanistan while serving as a Platoon Leader with 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne). Posthumously awarded the Silver Star and the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor. Basic Parachutist and Combat Infantryman with prior enlisted combat service in the 82nd Airborne Division.
